About the Course
The Red Cross Preventing Disease Transmission (PDT) online course helps organisations meet public health and safety guidelines. It’s suitable for everyone, including those in front-line service delivery, retail, community and social services, and those working with vulnerable populations.
Course Content
Participants will learn:
- How infection occurs and spreads
- Proper handwashing techniques
- What is Influenza? Symptoms and ways to manage
- Pandemic Influenza
- Personal Preparedness
- Personal protective equipment: correct use, removal, and disposal
- Business Continuity Planning
The course is developed using the latest evidence-based science from the World Health Organization, Public Health Authority of Canada, and the Center for Evidence Based Practise, in collaboration with the International Red Cross/Red Crescent.
Flexible, No-Contact Delivery
- Duration: Approximately 40 minutes, self-directed online learning
- Flexible: Employees learn at their own pace and schedule
- Learner-focused: Interactive activities and videos keep learners engaged
- Certification: Electronic records and completion certificates available for download or print
The PDT course is also available in virtual and in-person formats, facilitated by a Red Cross First Aid Instructor, including live demonstrations with teaching aids and PPE.
