Youth Leaders support the Red Cross Youth First Aid Program through the delivery of our Stay Safe! and Babysitting courses. With the required prerequisites, candidates enter into our comprehensive Youth Leader Development Program, designed to prepare them to support dynamic, learner-centered classroom environments. Register now.

Youth Leader Pathway
Below is the pathway to becoming a certified Canadian Red Cross Youth Leader. You must successfully complete each step before advancing to the next step. Certification is valid for 3 years.

Fundamentals of Instructions
Step one consists of confirming prerequisites are met: you must be certified in Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C and be at least 18 years old or 16-17 years old with on-site adult support.
Step two is an online component (5-7 hrs) where you will learn the fundamentals of instruction and be informed on the
Teaching Experience process.

Certification
After completing the Teaching Experience module of the online component, you will then complete a teaching experience in a real Youth First Aid classroom.
The final step is the certification. Congratulations!
You are now officially a certified Youth Leader.
