First Aid Instructor Transfer
$745
The Canadian Red Cross First Aid Instructor transfer pathway recognizes instructional experience with other organizations to shorten the certification process. Candidates with current instructor-level certification from a recognized agency (like St. John Ambulance or Lifesaving Society) can bypass the “Fundamentals of Instruction” component. Teachers with a Bachelor of Education degree and valid Standard First Aid also qualify for this shortened pathway. Both pathways require completion of an “Instructor Development Transfer” course and meet all pre- and post-course requirements, including a skills evaluation.

OPTION 1: INSTRUCTORS FROM OTHER RECOGNIZED AGENCIES
- Qualification: Hold a current First Aid Instructor certificate from a recognized agency, such as St. John Ambulance or Lifesaving Society.
- Pathway: Follow the Instructor Development Pathway but skip Step 3, the “Fundamentals of Instruction” classroom component.
- Requirements: Complete a skills evaluation and the “Discipline Specific” component of the course. You may also have to meet post-course co-teach requirements.
OPTION 2: EDUCATORS OR RED CROSS WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTORS
Qualification: Hold a Bachelor of Education degree and current Standard First Aid or hold a current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor/Trainer certification.
- Pathway: Follow the Instructor Development Program but skip Step 2, the “Fundamentals of Instruction” classroom component.
- Requirements: Complete an “Instructor Development Transfer” course, meet skills evaluation requirements, and complete all post-course requirements, including a co-teach.

- Registration: Register for an “Instructor Development Transfer” course through an Instructor Development Centre such as (VO2 Health Focus).
- Skills evaluation: Complete a formal skill assessment without coaching.
- Pre-and post-course requirements: Meet all instructor course prerequisites and complete all post-course requirements, such as a co-teach experience.
